In a recorded video statement, the fighting battalion that calls itself ‘Katibat Muhajireen al-Qawqaz fi al-Sham’ declared its total independence from other groups fighting in Syria, mainly the transnational jihad organisations of Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham and Jabhat al-Nusra; they were originally under the ISIS. The battalion is comprised of non-Syrian fighters mainly from the Caucasus. The speaker in the video claimed that the number of fighters in their ranks are increasing, with more jihadis coming to fight in the land of al-Sham.
