SOHR also documented the death of 689 Syrian Army soldiers, 612 of these members of the National Defense Forces and the civilian militias that support President Bashar al-Assad.

Another 13 casualties were members of Hezbollah, the Lebanese Shiite militia group, and 49 were pro-Damascus foreign fighters, most of whom were also followers of the Shia sect of Islam.
