Islamic State threatens to cut off gas to the biggest power plant in Syria

Islamic State has still sieged the regime- held areas in the city of Deir Ezzor since the beginning of 2015.

SHOR knew that IS cut off the electricity to the regime- neighborhoods in the city of Deir Ezzor. Cross- cutting sources informed SOHR that the negotiations between IS and the regime forces are still taking places in order to increase the proportion of electricity for the IS- held neighborhoods in the city of Deir Ezzor. IS has also demanded the regime forces to fix the power plant of al- Dweir located in the eastern countryside after it was targeted by the regime warplanes which led to material damages in it. The sources confirmed that IS has threatened the regime forces to cut off gas and prevent it to arrive to the power plant of Jandar in Homs that supplies some provinces in electricity in case of not carrying out the above mentioned.

Meanwhile, IS continues of preventing the citizens and employees to enter the regime- held areas in the city of Deir Ezzor as well as preventing the entry of food supplies and medicines to these areas. They also bar the people from coming out of these neighborhoods except the pathological cases.
