Australian doctor features in IS video

A young man claiming to be an Australian doctor has appeared in an Islamic State propaganda video.

The man, which Fairfax Media reports is former Perth doctor Tareq Kamleh, promotes health services in Raqqa, Syria and encourages other Muslim health workers to follow suit.

In the video he refers to himself as ‘Abu Yusuf’ and, in an Australian accent, explains how he travelled from Australia to the I.S. stronghold to better others with his medical skills.

Seen treating new born babies he says, ‘I saw this as part of my jihad for Islam, to help the Muslims Ummah (community) in the area that I could, which is the medical field’.

The video was published on Friday and shared on social media by I.S.-linked accounts.

The video has not been verified.
