“Islamic State” storms internet cafes in the city of al- Raqqa, while closes others in “al- Furat State” and asks their owners to issue licences

SOHR activists in the city of al- Raqqa that IS stormed this morning several internet cafes in al- Jamili area and al- Almasi Street in the city with no information about arresting people. SOHR activists in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor knew that IS closed the internet cafes in al- Bokamal area and its countryside in the Syrian part of “al- Furat State” that also includes the Iraqi city of al- Qaem, where IS has encouraged the owners of these cafes to issue a license to open them. SOHR published yesterday that “Islamic state” circulated on the Internet cafe owners in the Syrian section of “the state of the Euphrates” which is the city of al-Bokamal and other near towns, villages and cities that they should remove Wi-Fi devices which distributes Internet networks to the houses neighboring to the internet cafés , and that the owners of the internet cafés must remove them and only allow the Internet inside the café only, and that “any violation cause punishment”, also several sources confirmed to the activists of the Observatory that the organization circulated this decision on the Internet cafes in the towns of al-Salhiyyeh, al-Mojawdeh and al-Jala’a and the city of Hjyn and its villages after circulating on the cafes in the city of al-Bokamal.

In 27 July, SOHR was informed that the security members of IS raided the internet cafés in Al-Raqqah city and inspected them alongside everybody inside, also they have uninstalled the Wi-Fi devices that broadcast the internet to the neighboring houses, and that came less than 24 hours after the circulating issued by the “Islamic State” which SOHR had published and says that IS has given the owner of internet cafés a time limit of 4 days to remove Wi-Fi that give internet for the houses around these cafés, and they have warned them to stop all the house subscription and even the subscriptions of IS militants, where IS tries in this step to do a news blackout on what is happening inside the city of al- Raqqa, which is considered its main stronghold in Syria, and arrest all those who publish news about IS by carrying out consecutive raids and sending patrols to the internet shops to inspect them searching for such people. IS also try to cut off communication between the non-Syrian IS militants and their relatives fearing of going back to their homes and that some of them may communicate with intelligence agencies
