In conjunction with the clashes of border of Rif Dimashq and al-Suwaidaa, warplanes bomb the perimeter of Khalkhala Airbase and al-Lajat area northeast of Daraa

Violent explosions shook the administrative border between the countryside of Daraa and al-Suwaidaa, the sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that they were caused by several airstrikes by warplanes targeted areas in the northeastern countryside of Daraa province, where the missiles targeted places in al-Lajat area near Khalkhala Airbase, of which the regime forces are trying to secure its surroundings from attacks that may target it by unknown gunmen or by ISIS cells, but no information about casualties caused by these air raids yet.

These raids coincide with the continuation of military operations against the “Islamic State” organization in Rif Dimashq on the administrative border with the countryside of al-Suwaidaa, where clashes are taking place at a varying rate of violence between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them against ISIS members within the continued attempts to shrink the “Islamic State” organization’s controlled areas in Tlul al-Safa area, amid exchange of targeting in the clash areas, which caused more casualties in the ranks of both parties, where it rose to 112, the number of ISIS members who have been killed in the bombings, shelling and clashes since the 25th of July 2018, while it rose to at least 37, the number of members of the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them who were killed in the same period, also the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented since the attack of ISIS in Al-Suwaidaa countryside on the 25th of July 2018, the death of about 142 citizens including 38 women and children, in addition to the killing of 116 people, the majority of whom were of the gunmen villagers who carried the gun to repel the organization’s attack, and a 19-year-old boy was executed by ISIS after being kidnapped along with about 30 others, and a woman died when she was held by ISIS in conditions that still vague so far.

While the case of abductees of al-Suwaidaa province (who have been detained by ISIS since the 25th of July 2018; after it carried out its biggest, deadliest and most violent attack in al-Suwaidaa province since the start of the Syrian revolution) is still the most important thing in the province as fears for the fate of the kidnapped people and the great public discontent continue over the stall of the Syrian regime in the case of abductees, and in conjunction with the continuous resentment; the elders of al-Aql Sheikhs of the Unitarian Druze community have made a statement about assigning several people to a negotiating committee, and the Syrian Observatory obtained a copy of the statement, it says:

“due to the present circumstances and requirements of the public interest, a negotiating committee is formed in regard of the abductees of al-Suwaidaa province of the gentlemen: Dr. Samer Abu Ammar, Dr. Saeed al-Ak, Mr. Osama Abu Bakkar, Mr. Adel al-Hadi. And the work of the committee is limited to following up on the case of the abducted people of the province and reaching out to the concerned authorities to achieve their release and return to their families unharmed.”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published days ago that sounds of gunfire and explosions were heard in the north-eastern sector of Daraa countryside, and the adjacent north-western countryside of Al-Suwaidaa, caused by targeting by the regime forces to this area, which is near Khalkhala Military Airbase, which witnessed on the 1st of August 2018, the second surprising attack by the organization in the countryside of the province, since the 25th of July 2018, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored a sudden attack on al-Khalkhala Airbase by a group of the organization after midnight of Tuesday – Wednesday, the 1st of August 2018, which targeted at the inside of the Airbase by several rocket shells which caused explosions that caused destruction and damage to military equipment inside the al-Khalkhala Airbase, and resulted in the death of 7 members of the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them.

While the Syrian Observatory published on the 12th of August 2018, that al-Lajat area in the northeastern countryside of Daraa is witnessing a better security conditions, where sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the regime forces have withdrawn from positions and checkpoints in al-Lajat and other villages, but stayed in some other villages, and on the roads between the villages of al-Lajat area, and even more in areas in the vicinity of al-Lajat area in the northeastern countryside of Daraa, and these withdrawals came after by wide-scale raids and arrests by the regime forces in the past days, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 7th of August 2018 that the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them are continuing to clamp down on the citizens and residents of Al-Lajat area, in the north-western sector of Daraa countryside, where local sources informed the Syrian Observatory that tens of residents were taken by the regime forces from their houses and were transported from villages in Al-Lajat area, under the pretext of declaring the villages, of which residents were brought out, as a military zone, and to secure Khalkhala Military Airbase, which was subjected few days ago to a violent attack by the “Islamic State” organization, during which it managed to kill 7 members of the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them, and caused damage and destruction to the equipment inside the airbase, which is located at the administrative border of the north-western countryside of Al-Suwaidaa with the north-eastern countryside of Daraa, while the Syrian Observatory monitored yesterday, that resentment is prevailing the province of Daraa, specially the north-eastern sector of its countryside, as a result of the ongoing raids for the 4th consecutive day, by the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them.
