The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights

260 days since the escalation of security chaos in Idlib until imposing one administrative control over the area, 423 civilians, fighters, and leaders of different nationalities were assassinated in the province and its surroundings

Idlib Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: security chaos continues within the factions’-controlled areas in Idlib province and the surrounding countryside, as the factions are busy fighting each other’s, where the Syrian Observatory documented the death of a man, after he was shot by unidentified gunmen Wednesday night in Jisr al-Shughur city in the western countryside of Idlib, raising to 423, the number of people who were assassinated and killed at the countryside of Idlib, Aleppo, and Hama, since the 26th of April 2018, until today the 10th of January 2019, the date in which the rescue government imposed its complete control over Idlib and its surroundings, they are the wife of an Uzbek commander and his son, in addition to 111 civilians including 14 children and 7 women, of who were assassinated through bomb explosions, IED detonations, shooting, abduction, murder and then throwing the bodies in remote areas, and 264 fighters of Syrian nationality belong to Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, al-Sham Corps, the Islamic Movement of Ahrar al-Sham, Jaysh al-Izza, and other factions operating in Idlib, and 45 fighters of Somali, Uzbek, Asian, Gulf, Jordanian, Turkish and Caucasian nationalities have been assassinated in the same ways, also the assassination attempts have injured tens of people with varying severity.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published at the end of 2018 that security chaos is still heading the scene in the controlled areas of the factions, Tahrir Al-Sham and the “jihadis” within Idlib province and the countryside around it, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that the body of a Moroccan “Jihadist” was found dead and dumped in Jabal Al-Akrad in the northern countryside of Latakia, at the side of the road to Bdama town west of Idlib, were marks of tortured and several stabs with a knife were noticed on his body, the Syrian Observatory also published on the 25th of December 2018, that it monitored the killing of an Uzbek nationality fighter and the injury of another one, after a shooting by unknown gunmen at a car they were traveling in, on the road to Kafrarouk town in the northern countryside of Idlib and, then the gunmen fled, where the area is witnessing cases of kidnapping, killing, and theft almost daily in light of the widespread resentment among the displaced and residents, as a result of this great security chaos and the inability of the factions to control or limit it, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the same day, that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that a Chechen fighter of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham was killed yesterday, Monday, where unknown assailants stabbed him several times using a white weapon (like knife, blade, etc.) in front of his home in al-Fu’aa Farms in the eastern countryside of Idlib, where this is considered the first incident of its kind, since the escalation of security chaos in late April 2018, in another context, the Syrian Observatory monitored an armed clash between 2 families who follow a rebel corps close to Turkey in Salqin town in the western countryside of Idlib, but no Information about casualties until the moment, and these incidents come within the series of security chaos in the areas that are controlled by the factions, Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, and the “jihadis” in Idlib Province and the surrounding countryside.

The Syrian Observatory monitored that the number of casualties of the organization and the cells rose to 106 members of ISIS and its cells who have been killed since the end of April 2018, of Syrian, Iraqi, and other non-Syrian nationalities, including at least 44 where executed by slaughtering them or directly shooting them, while the rest were killed during raids and exchange of gunfire between these cells and members of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham in the areas of Salqin, Sarmin, Sahel al-Rouj and several other areas in the countryside of Idlib, after they were arrested previously within the campaign of arrests which targeted tens of persons on charge of these accusations, and which sometimes witnessed violent clashes between members of these cells and members of Tahrir Al-Sham, as well as the executions that used to be carried out directly, or through mass targeting to positions and headquarters of these cells, and this is the first execution to be carried out within the Russian – Turkish demilitarized area, which was specified within the Russian – Turkish agreement that recently reached.

 

The security forces in Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham and the rebel and Islamic factions of Syrian and non-Syrian nationality have repeatedly failed to control this security chaos, despite their security operations that caused the arrest of cells belong to the “Islamic State” organization, and other cells responsible for kidnappings, assassination attempts, and assassinations, but these operations have not been able to achieve any complete results, but the cells have remained as it is wandering within the areas in which they have caused an uncontrolled security, where the cells are reducing their activity with each military operation, and get active again as security operation ends.
