103 people executed in 7 provinces over 50 days

SOHR could document execution of 103 people, including 4 women and 8 people of Arab, Asian and Russian nationalities. The executions carried out in different areas in Syria since the beginning of 2015 until this morning February 20.

 

The executions carried out by Islamic State, al- Nusra Front, the Judiciary in Hraytan in the north of Aleppo, the High Sharia Court of the city of Talbise and its countryside, unknown gunmen, Islamic factions and the National Resistance Movement “NRM”, which is loyal to the Syrian regime.

 

Charges have ranged from insulting God and his prophet (blasphemy), fighting Islamic State betraying its own mujahedeen, apostasy, spying for the benefit of the regime and crusader alliance, dealing with the regime, handing over wives of mujahedeen to the regime, adultery, homosexuality, sorcery, kidnapping Muslims and looting their money, banditry, violation of a house’s privacy, working with terror court, working with NDF,  dealing with Russian and Jordanian intelligence and dealing with Israel. 

 

The executions distributed as follows:

 

  • Islamic State 72.
  • The Judiciary in Hraytan 6.
  • The Sharia Court in Aleppo and Abo Amarah Battalions 6.
  • Al- Nusra Front 6.
  • The security institution in Aleppo 5.
  • Islamic battalions 2.
  • The Sharia Court of Talbise and its countryside 1.
  • The National Resistance Movement “NRM” 3.
  • Unknown gunmen 2.

The mentioned factions carried out the executions in Homs, Daraa, Idlib, al- Hasakah, Aleppo, Deir Ezzor and Al- Raqqa.

 

Day before yesterday in February 18, SOHR documented executing a man by IS militants in the south of the city of al- Qameshli City in al- Hasakah Province, where he was shot and crucified for “banditry”.

 

In February 16, a man from the city of Khan Sheikhoun tortured to death inside al- Nusra’s jails after arresting him for 15 days. On the same day, a body of a murdered man was found in the neighborhood of al- Mowasalat in the east of Aleppo, “Islamic State of Iraq and Sham”, which is the old name of Islamic State, was written on a paper found on the body, “ with Allah’s help, this apostate had been killed and this a message to Modar al- Najjare in a reference to the leader of the Security Institution in Aleppo.”  

 

February 13, Reliable sources informed SOHR that IS executed the official of distributing gas in the gas field of Koniko located in the east of Deir Ezzor, where they shot him the oilfield of al- Omar. The sources confirmed that IS had arrested the Tunisian official when he was trying to run away after stealing a sum of money. On the same day, SOHR knew that the “Islamic Police” of IS had executed 2 men and a young man in the countryside of Homs, where they executed the two men by shooting them in public on charge of “Insulting God” while the other one executed for “mischief in land, steal, embezzlement and raping of a three years old child”. IS militants executed 2 men by shooting them in a public square in the city of al- Bab on charge of “spying for the sake of crusader alliance”, where they keep them crucified for 3 days. The sources confirmed that the two men were wearing “orange clothes” before they were executed.

 

The National Resistance Movement “NRM” issued an announcement in February 10, stated “ Allah’s judgment had been carried out against 2 criminals of Israel agents who were fighting with the terrorists and who got involved with killing innocents, and we apologize for not launching the clip  with respect of people’s feeling and the human spirit.

 

In February 9, Reliable sources reported to SOHR that IS stoned a man to death in Menbej city northeast of Aleppo, in the charge of “homosexual “, the IS stoned him to death in front of dozens of civilians, including children. On the same day, IS executed an Islamic commander in Bir al-Qasab in the southeast of Rif Dimashq by shooting him after capturing him in previous attack on the area. He was accused of “betraying IS mujahedeen”. They also crucified 4 men in Abo al-Hol town southeast of al-Hasakah, the IS said that they were bandits and clashed against IS in al-Hasakah countryside they crucified them after killing them, 4 pro- regime militiamen were lost earlier, it is still unknown whether they are the same men who were killed by the IS or not. 

 

Trustworthy resources reported to SOHR that IS militants beheaded an old man in public al- Mazout Market in the city of Manbej for “insulting the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him” in February 8.

 

In February 7, SOHR documented death of a rebel commander due to torture inside al- Nusra Jails in the town of Sarmada. On the same day, IS militants executed 3 men in the northeast of Aleppo by shooting their heads, then crucified them for “kidnapping a Muslim and looting his money”, 2 of them confessed of being fighters in the rebel battalions. They also beheaded 3 men in an area near the airbase of al- Tabaqa on charge of being “regime agents”. Another man was beheaded in an area in the western countryside of al- Raqqa accusing him of “sorcery”.

 

Reliable sources informed SOHR in February 4, that the Security Institution in Aleppo executed a boy, who is 18 years old, on charge of “dealing with the regime forces and handing over wives of mujahedeen to the regime”.

 

SOHR documented in February 3, that IS militants executed 2 men from the city of Manbej in the northeast of Aleppo for “dealing with the infidel regime”. They also executed and crucified 2 other men in the town of Deir Hafer for the same charge. Another one was executed in the old Sena’ah area in the city of al- Raqqa on charge of “promoting drugs”, where the sources confirmed to the Observatory that IS arrested this man when he was trying to smuggle cigarettes, alcohol and drugs to the city of al- Raqqa days ago. In addition to, the Judiciary in Hraytan in the north of Aleppo executed 6 men ac charge of being “a cell working for the sake of the regime in the liberated areas by determining coordinates for the warplanes”, where they confessed of “dealing with the regime and informing it about movements of rebels”. They were sentenced to death for “apostasy”.

 

SOHR published in February 2, that IS militants executed a man; they said that he is from NDF and that he had been arrested in the north of al- Hasakah City. IS executed him a public place in the southern countryside of al- Hasakah.

 

In February 1, SOHR document death of a man from the town of Ma’arret Mesrin in Idlib where activists accused al- Nusra Front of torturing him to death inside one of its jails. At the same day, SOHR documented that masked gunmen called themselves “The National Resistance Movement “NRM” investigated a detainee, then killed him by shooting his head. SOHR received a footage showing IS militants butchering a man who confessed that he is a fighter from the town of al- Tayba in Hama, and that the brigade that he was working for is belong to the Jordanian intelligence and he was arrested in September 2014. IS militants beheaded and crucified him for “dealing with Jordanian Intelligence”.

 

In January 27, SOHR received a footage showing dozens of people, including children, gathering in a public square in the countryside of al- Haskah, where IS militants were preparing to execute him for “insulting God” he screamed for help from the silent crowd.

Details of the man’s crime were unknown but his death was staged for maximum exposure in a public square.

A militant addressed the large crowd, which included children, as the man was restrained behind him claiming to carry out the “law of Allah” by executing him for allegedly insulting God.

Unlike most victims, the young man was not blindfolded and was forced to the ground face down to be decapitated.

He continued to struggle while screaming for help as the crowd stood watching and filming the gruesome display on their phones. The man was saying  “I won’t forgive you, I am not the one who did it, where are you people of al- Sheddadi, where are you Arabs”. At the same day IS execute a man in Tal Abyad Street in the city of al- Raqqa for “being a gay”. The sources confirmed to SOHR that IS militants threw him off the top of a building and and then stoned him to death amid allegations.

 

In 26 January, IS militants executed a man by shooting him in al- Takaya Street in the city of Deir Ezzor for “insulting God”.

 

Reliable sources informed SOHR that IS militants executed 6 men in the city of Manbej in the north east of Aleppo. At the same day, SOHR documented that the Security Institution executed 2 men and a woman yesterday for “dealing with the Air Force Intelligence of al- Assad regime by giving them information about places and movement of the mujahedeen and by poisoning their food”.  In addition to, the Observatory documented execution of a man in al- Yarmuk camp in the province of Damascus for “insulting God” ; the execution carried out by al- Nusra Front and an Islamic faction. SOHR also documented execution of 2 detainees out of 11 carried out by fighters.

 

In January 20, SOHR knew that the High Islamic Legitimate Court in the city of Talbisah and its countryside executed a woman by shooting her for “dealing with the regime forces and security apparatus and informing them about the ways of entering ammunitions to the area”. The execution carried out yesterday in the public square in the city of Talbisah. At the same time, SOHR received copy of a footage showing the Sharia Body of al- Nusra Front executed a woman by shooting her in the village of Hafsarjeh in the countryside of Idlib accusing her of “adultery and making mischief in land”. As stated in footage, al- Had (the Islamic punishment) carried out in the same place where the crime committed.

 

In January 18, IS beheaded an Iraqi man at al- Tayyarah Roundabout in the city of al- Bo Kamal accusing him of “fighting Islamic State”.

 

In January 17, the Observatory documented that the Security Institution of al- Jabha al- Shameyyi executed a man from the city of Aleppo on charge of “Dealing with the regime forces and supplying them with information about posts of the rebel and Islamic battalions”. As well as, IS shot a man then crucified him on al- Mashtal park wall in al- Takaya Street in the city of Deir Ezzor for “fighting Islamic State with the apostate factions”. They also tortured to death a fighter from al- Nusra Front inside jails in the city of al- Mayadin.

 

In January 15, SOHR documented that IS militants executed 11 men in the countryside of Deir Ezzor, where they executed 3 men in the town of al- Keshkeyyi, 2 of them from the town of Abo Hamam while the other from the town of al- Keshkeyyi which are inhabited by al- Shaaitat people, for “fighting Islamic State”, where they shot and crucified them for 3 days.

 

They also executed 2 men at the roundabout of Ghranij town, the first one from the town of Abo Hamam while the other from the town of Ghranij, where they shot and crucified them on charge of “fighting Islamic State and that they did not declare their repentance”.

 

In addition to, IS militants executed 2 men in the town of al- ShHil “the ex-stronghold of al- Nusra Front”, where they also shot and crucified them for “fighting Islamic State, establishing the battalion of Shohadaa al- ShHil to fight IS and finding weapons with them”.

 

They executed 2 men from the towns of al- Jerzi and al- Dahlah by shooting them on charge of “fighting Islamic State”, where their bodies are going to be crucified for 3 days. Another man was executed in the town of al- Shmeteyyi in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor with no information about his accusation.

 

Meanwhile, SOHR had been informed in January 14, that IS militants executed 3 men in the city of al- Mayadin; 2 of them were shot then crucified  for “dealing with the Nusayri regime” while the last one was beheaded and their bodies are going to remain crucified for 3 days at al- Bakra Roundabout for “establishing a cell to fight IS”, where he detonated several IEDs and booby- trapped cars against IS fighters, light weapons found with him and he was the responsible for Wael restaurant explosion. They also executed a university student in the town of al- Bolel accused of being “informant for the Nusayri regime” after they arrested him when he was return from his university located in the regime- held areas on charge of “smoking”. Another man from the city of Mo Hasan executed by shooting him on charge of being “agent for the regime and communication with the regime intelligence apparatus”.

 

In January 13, SOHR received a video released by IS purporting to show a young boy executing two men accused of being informants for the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (known as FSB). The video is narrated in Russian and opens with the interrogation of one of the men, who says he is a Kazakh citizen. He says he was recruited by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) to get close to an unnamed ISIS fighter. The second man, who does not give his nationality but says he worked for the FSB in Russia previously, says he was tasked with killing an unnamed ISIS fighter. Both men say they were told to collect and transmit information about ISIS fighters in Syria. The video shows an IS boy of an Asian nationality shootting the two men. At the same day, SOHR received a video showing fighters from Al-Nusra Front, Al-Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate, tying up a woman and shooting her in a square in the town of Maaret Masirin in the province of Idlib. A crowd of civilians and fighters are seen watching, as a jihadist accuses the woman of “corrupting the earth, and adultery”.

 

SOHR knew in January 10, that IS executed a man of being “a pro- regime member” in al- Haddadeyyi junction in the south of al- Hasakah.

 

In January 9, the Islamic police of IS executed 5 men in the countryside of Homs, where they shot 3 of them for being “spies” and beheaded another for being “ a lawyer in Terrorism Court” while the last one, who was an old man, killed for being “ apostate from the Ismaili Sect”. IS said “the Ismaili Sect is considered from esoteric doctrine and that all its followers are infidels unanimously by the scholars.”

 

In January 8, reliable sources informed SOHR that a teacher at the age of 50 years died under torture inside the IS jails in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, where IS militants stormed and inspected the teacher’s house in the village of Hatla on Thursday morning but the house was empty. Then, the teacher went to IS post, where IS members arrested and tortured him to death. The sources informed SOHR that the organization has promised to investigate the incident. Reliable sources informed SOHR that the Sharia Court and Abo Amarah battalions threw a young man off the roof of building of al- Bayan hospital in the neighborhood of al- Sha’ar in the city of Aleppo for being gay but the young man did not die immediately until some fighters shot him.  In addition to, the battalions’ members executed 5 men, including 2 men from the same family, near al- Bayan Hospital on charge of being “cells of the regime”, where they shot them with the attendance of dozens of citizens.

 

In January 5, Reliable sources informed SOHR that the body of deputy of “al- Hesbah emir” was found beheaded. The sources reported that the body of deputy, who is Egyptian, was found near the power plant in the city of al- Mayadin with sign of torture. The sources also reported that a cigarette put in his mouth and “O Sheikh this is munkar (hateful and evil thing)”.

 

IS militants executed a man in January 4, for “drug trafficking” in al- Jazrah area.
