Explosion Rocks SDF Headquarters In Southern Al-Hasakah (Video)

A booby-trapped motorcycle exploded near the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) headquarters in the town of Markadah in southern al-Hasakah on July 10.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that four people, including a child, were injured as a result of the explosion.

As expected, ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack through its news agency, Amaq. The terrorist group claimed that seven fighters of the SDF were killed or injured in the explosion, contradicting the SOHR’s report.

Located between the southern al-Hasakah countryside and the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, Markadah is one of the key towns in Syria’s eastern region. In the last few months, the town witnessed increasing activity of ISIS cells.

While the bombing appears to be a failure, it will likely force the SDF to step up its security measures. Kurdish sources are already reporting that the group is implementing a motorcycle-ban in sensitive regions.
