The SOHR calls to open an international investigation against Assad Awad Al-Zubi on charge of racial discrimination, abetting hatred and supporting the crimes of genocide

Against the backdrop of the outcomes reached by the Syrian opposition, and in the wake of its campaign to unveil the figures that claim to represent this opposition, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights called to open an international investigation about statements released recently by the dissident Syrian officer, Assad Awad Al-Zubi, which revealed the falsity of the man’s handling of the Syrian revolution, as a national revolution for all the Syrian people, and showed his sectarian and nationalistic racism, through committing the crime of abetting hatred that is classified by the international resolutions and charters, and by the rules and principles of the International Law, as a “crime against humanity”.

The SOHR’s demands came on the basis of the public statements released by Assad Awad Al-Zubi who described the Kurds as “donkeys, dogs, insects, cockroaches, rats and worms”, and called to “use insecticide for these pests” as he says, pointing out to the genocide against the Kurdish children, women and elders during the war between Iran and Iraq, which refutes his claims of being aimed only at the PYD, which indicates his plain support to the crimes of genocide against a Syrian component, working on splitting the Syrian community, and abetting a sedition between Arabs and Kurds.

And the claims of the SOHR come in the frame of the sectarian incitement and false information released by Assad Al-Zubi, which shows political unawareness, and rude cultural shallowness, when he launched an attack upon the director of the Syrian Observatory and said, in swearing manner, that he is “Alawi” and an “officer in the Syrian Intelligence”, where the SOHR asked the information released by Al-Zubi to be verified, in which this information reflect irresponsible talk by an irresponsible person, that has no any awareness of the simplest information concerning the political affairs in general and Syrian affairs in particular, also it was undoubtedly proved that he bears responsibility for the crime of abetting hatred, where the jurisdiction of these crimes rests with the International Criminal Court, which affirmed in many of its resolutions that “abetting hatred” is considered a crime against humanity, including transgressing the limits of the “freedom of speech”, which is considered in the international humanitarian law as outrageous violation that may be raised to the level of international crimes to be held accountable by the International Law, which put restrictions on the freedom of expression, and the terms that incriminate the speech that serve to stir up violence and hatred, and which is responsible for incriminate the praise and glorification of terrorist actions, especially on social media, this also opposes the calls of the “UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination”, which operates under the Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, through monitoring equality between the races and the non-discrimination between them, and monitoring the violations related to racial discrimination, from the complaints between states to the individual complaints.
