A new campaign of arrests in areas south of the capital, targets former commanders and members in the ranks of the opposition factions

Rif Dimashq Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned from several reliable sources that the regime’s intelligence carried out a campaign of arrests yesterday, targeted more than 30 young men from the areas of Yalda, Babbila and Beit Sahem south of the capital Damascus, and according to the sources of the SOHR; patrols affiliated to the “Political Security” Branch supported by military units of members of the “popular committees” formed from the people of the area, have carried out a campaign of raids targeting tens of houses and shops in the three towns, in search for wanted people, where the campaign was concentrated in Yalda town, and targeted more than 20 young men after raiding their houses in the neighborhoods of Al-Keshk and Mosque of Imam al-Shafi’i, where the campaign was coincided with security tightening at the town’s entrances and sitting temporary checkpoints between its neighborhoods.

The arrests also targeted 10 young men in the towns of Babbila and Beit Sahem, including 4 Palestinian refugees from the people of Yarmouk Camp, and the campaign targeted former members and commanders in the ranks of the opposition factions, of those who stayed in the area and chose to struck security settlement deals with the regime instead of leaving to the Syrian North.
