The explosion of a landmine of the remnants of the military operations claims the life of an old man in his village near the contact line east of Idlib

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented today the death of an old man due to the explosion of a landmine of the war’s remnantsin the eastern countryside of Idlib.

This area of east Idlib is considered a hot spot that has been witnessing clashes between the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them on one hand, and the Islamic factions on the other.

It is noteworthy that hundreds of families were unable to find a safe haven match with their material conditions, while many families preferred to stay in their houses putting their lives at risk of being shelled.

Thus, it rose to 197 people including 61 women and 48 children, the number of people who were killed by mines and IED explosions in several areas of the Syrian territory in Homs, Hama, and Deir Ezzor since the beginning of January 2019 until today, and among the total number of casualties the Syrian Observatory documented the death of 44 people including 30 women and 5 children, also the Syrian Observatory documented the killing and execution of 34 members of the regime forces; as they were passing over minefield areas, or arrested by groups of ISIS and executed during their search and collection of the truffle which grows in the areas that is subjected to heavy rain, and it is sold at very high prices.

While the IEDs and mines have also left tens of wounded since the second half of February until now, mostly citizen women, and their injuries varied between severe, amputations, middle, and simple wounds.
