Unidentified persons blackmail a doctor to collect money in the wake of the spreading of ISIS cells in SDF-held areas

Deir Ezzor Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned from reliable sources that unidentified gunmen threw an IED without a fuse, on the house of a doctor in Al-Busayrah city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, while a paper was found with a phone number on it, and they asked him to pay 10000 USD.

Blackmail incidents are growing with the purpose of collecting money in the shadow of the spreading of the “Islamic State” organization’s cells.

On the 3rd of November 2019, SOHR published that it learned that a group of residents of al-Shuhayl town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, ambushed persons who are blackmailing people of the area in order to obtain money under the pretext of being “zakat,” where they threaten them with death if they do not pay.

The sources told SOHR that the locals released them later  for fear of revenge by ISIS members in the area.
