With facilitation from the pro-Turkey factions .. Afrin’s antiquities leave in a one-way trip out of Syria

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned from reliable sources that pro-Turkey factions unleashed the monuments excavators in Afrin area in return for huge amounts of money.

Sources informed the Syrian Observatory that antiquities and artifacts were found in the archeological site of Nebi Huri, also the excavators used digging machines and advanced equipment to detect the locations of these artifacts.

While sources told SOHR that the excavators found mosaics that they managed to smuggle to Turkey by dealers with joint facilitation from the forces and the factions in control of that area.

It is noteworthy that the area of Afrin was subjected to thefts where its antiquities were looted by sweeping the archaeological hills by bulldozers and heavy machinery to get antiquities.

SOHR published on the 1st of August 2019, that the pro-Turkey factions and those operating within the “Olive Branch”, are continuing their violations in Afrin through erasing the area’s history, through excavation for artifacts and stealing and selling them in Turkey where the perpetrators earn money through the proceeds from selling the antiquities and what they find of archeological pieces, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that armed members of the pro-Turkey faction “Sultan Murad”, are digging and drifting soil in Bulbul Township in Afrin countryside in the north-east of Aleppo, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights; the members have been carrying out excavations since morning through digging and drifting the soil on the hill that is located between the villages of Bibaka – Qusha – Sharqa of Bulbul township in Afrin countryside, in search for artifacts using heavy vehicles, in addition to the uprooting of olive trees before the Turkish forces which are present in the area.
