The factions and HTS attack the regime forces south-east of Idlib leaving 10 members of them dead and impose control over the Abandoned Battalion

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored a fierce attack by the rebel and Islamic factions as well as Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham since today’s dawn, on positions of the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them in the south-eastern countryside of Idlib, where clashes have been taking place between the both parties in the area of the Abandoned Battalion, amid heavy exchange of rocket shelling.

The Syrian Observatory was informed that the factions and Tahrir Al-Sham managed to advance and impose control over the Abandoned Battalion where the clashes are concentrated now in the area’s eastern parts, where the factions are trying to hold on to their positions while the regime forces are trying to retake the lead.

SOHR documented human losses in the ranks of both parties as a result of the shelling and attacks since dawn, where it documented the killing of 10 members at least of the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them, while 5 fighters of the jihadi groups were also killed, and the death toll is expected to increase due to the presence of injuries some of whom are in serious conditions, as well as presence of information about other casualties.

With the fall of more casualties, it rose to at least 811, the number of people who were killed since the last agreement of “Putin – Erdogan” on the 31st of August 2019, the date of start of the most violent escalation in terms of aerial and ground bombardment, shelling, and targeting since Putin – Erdogan agreement, until the 11th of December 2019, and they are: 220 civilians including 61 children and 44 citizen women, and they are 96 including 30 children and 17 women were killed in Russian aerial bombardment on the countryside of Idlib and Hama, and 13 including 3 women and 4 children were killed in the fall of barrel bombs, and 32 including 5 children 6 women were killed in targeting by regime’s warplanes, also 65 people including 16 women and 17 children were killed in a ground shelling carried out by the regime forces, and 14 citizens including 6 children and 2 women were killed in shelling by the factions on regime forces’-controlled areas in Aleppo and its countryside and the countryside of Hama, while at least 283 fighters were killed in the Russian airstrikes and the regime’s aerial and ground shelling including 186 of the Jihadis, in addition to killing of 308 members of the regime forces in targeting and shelling by jihadi groups and factions.

Thus, it rose to at least 4912, the number of people who were killed since the 30th of April 2019, the date of start of the most violent escalation in terms of aerial and ground bombardment, shelling, and targeting since Putin – Erdogan agreement, until the 11th of December 2019, and they are: 1265 civilians including 321 children and 230 citizen women, and they are 322 including 74 children and 60 women, and 9 of the civil defense and 6 of the ambulance team were killed in Russian aerial bombardment on the countryside of Idlib and Hama, and 101 including 22 women and 19 children were killed in the fall of barrel bombs, and 569 including 159 children, 96 women, and 5 members of the rescue teams were killed in targeting by regime’s warplanes, also 179 people including 36 women and 38 children were killed in a ground shelling carried out by the regime forces, and 94 citizens including 31 children and 16 women were killed in shelling by the factions on al-Suqaylabiyah, Qamhana, Al-Rasif, Al-Aziziyah, Karnaz, Jurin, Al-Nairab Camp, neighborhoods in Aleppo city and its southern countryside, while at least 1948 fighters were killed in the Russian airstrikes and the regime’s aerial and ground shelling including 1273 of the Jihadis, in addition to killing of 1699 members of the regime forces in targeting and shelling by jihadi groups and factions.

During the period between the 15th of February 2019; the date of the meeting of “Rouhani – Erdogan – Putin” until the 11th of December 2019, and Syrian Observatory documented the death of 5438 people in the Russian – Turkish truce areas, they are 1548 civilians including 402 children under the age of eighteen and 294 women over the age of eighteen, they were killed in the Russian aerial bombardment and the rocket shelling by the regime forces and the factions, and among the death toll of civilians there are 120 people including 34 children under the age of eighteen and 20 citizen women over the age of eighteen, they were killed in the fall of shells launched by the factions, and 2034 fighters were killed in different conditions within the demilitarized area since Putin – Erdogan agreement, including 1305 fighters of the “Jihadis” and 1856 of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them.

While the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented since the start of the Russian – Turkish truce the death of 5672 people in areas of Erdogan – Putin agreement, they are: 1631 civilians including 431 children and 308 women, were killed in shelling by the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them, targeting, and bombardment by warplanes, and among them there are 121 people including 34 children and 21 women, were killed in the fall of shells launched by the factions, and 2101 fighters were killed in deferent circumstances within the demilitarized area since Putin – Erdogan agreement, including 1409 of the “Jihadi” fighters, and 1940 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them.
