Internal Security Forces arrest five people encourage demonstrations against “Washukani” camp administration in al-Hasakah countryside

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned today that the internal security forces arrested five people from Ras al-Ayn, who lived in Washukani camp following the displacement wave after the Turkish military operation, “Peace Spring.”

According to the “Syrian Observatory’s” sources, the reason behind the arrest was that they encouraged camp residents to demonstrate against the camp’s administration, against the poor services there.

Displaced people are living in the displacement camps because of the Turkish military operation, “Peace Spring,” in the northeast of Syria, they are living in a very difficult humanitarian situation as no assistance or help have been provided from international organizations and the United Nations in particular.

Perhaps the “Washukani” camp in the al-Hasakah countryside is the most prominent example of the humanitarian disaster experienced by the displaced people.
Reliable sources told the Syrian Observatory that the United Nations has never entered the camp and that no other organization has entered the camp as well, where the aid provided to the camp is limited to the work of the Kurdish Red Crescent only. The camp is home to about 800 families who are more than 5700 people, and most foo them have been displaced from areas of Tal Abyad north of al-Raqqah and Ras al-Ayn north of Hasakah, and the Syrian Observatory appeals the concerned organizations and the United Nations to intervene and help the displaced people there.
