In conjunction with ceasefire announcement by the Russian “Defense” Ministry, cautious and relative calm prevails “Putin – Erdogan” area

The “de-escalation” area has been witnessing hours of cautious calm in the four sectors, interrupted by artillery shelling from time to time on the clash areas in the southeastern countryside of Idlib, in conjunction with the ceasefire announcement by the Russian Defense Ministry in Idlib area northwest Syria, under an agreement reached with Turkey as of 14:00 of today.

The Russian warplanes executed intensive raids on Maarrat Al-Nu’man city and the villages of Sarjeh, Babilla, Rwaiha, and Al-Hamidyah. No Information was reported about casualties.

These strikes come after the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey. Via a statement released after their meeting, they emphasized on the need to stop escalation on Idlib according to earlier accords.

The Syrian Observatory reported this morning, that frontline areas in the eastern countryside of Idlib witnessed the exchange of fire with shells and heavy machineguns after midnight of yesterday, between factions and jihadi groups against regime soldiers and loyalists, after yesterday’s fierce clashes between both parties during which 45 fighters and soldiers were killed.
