Opposition factions fire several rockets on Aleppo city leaving five persons dead or wounded

Activists told SOHR that the factions fired rocket shells on the areas of Al-Sabil Housing and Al-Neel Street in the western part of Aleppo city which is under control of the regime forces. The shelling killed one person and injured four others including a child.

Separately, regime helicopters flew over the western countryside of Aleppo and threw leaflets read “our honorable people in Idlib and western Aleppo countryside, the Syrian Arab Army is eager for your safety, help us so that we could protect your lives.”

“You will be safe only when you leave the controlled areas of militiamen and head to the Russian crossings that the state opened in Al-Hbit, Abu Al-Duhur and Al-Hader. They are ready to welcome you from 12:00 am on the 13th of January 2020, the crossings provides every thing ensures your dignity and what is needed to transport you to safe places, including medical services and means of transportation.”

“The terrorist organizations seek to take you as human shields to prevent the advancement of the army units that are coming to save you and clear your areas from the terrorist murderers. The decision of clearing all areas from terrorists is irreversible, so it is better for you to be stand in your homeland army’s side and achieve victory.”

Hours ago, the Syrian Observatory monitored cautious calm prevailed in the “de-escalation” zone during the first 12 hours of new ceasefire agreed upon between Russian and Turkey.

This calm was interrupted by rocket shells fired by the regime ground forces in the early hours of Sunday morning, targeting areas in Maarrat Al-Nu’man city and the towns and villages of Maarshmarin, Maarshourin, Maarshamsheh, Deir Sharqi, Deir Gharbi and Tal Mannas in Maarrat Al-Nu’man countryside, and Taqqanah and Rakaya Sajnah south of Idlib city.

Meanwhile, the area witnessed cessation of aerial operations, only Russian reconnaissance drones flew over Idlib province.
