The Syrian Observatory sources reported that a new massacre took place within the regime-held areas, less than ten days after a similar massacre in Al-Raqqah.
Seven civilians were executed by firing squad while grazing cattle in Ayyash Desert which is under control of the regime and Iranian forces, west of Deir Ezzor city.
No information has been reported yet about the perpetrators’ identity. Finger of blame is pointed at regime loyal militiamen.
On January 7, SOHR activists said that ambiguity still surrounds the identity of the perpetrators of the mass execution in the south-eastern desert of Al-Raqqah that claimed the lives of 21 civilian citizens.
According to SOHR sources, it has not been confirmed yet whether the massacre was carried out by ISIS members or by militiamen loyal to the Syrian regime.
It is noteworthy that the victims were shackled and executed by firing squad on January 4, while grazing sheep in Al-Sabkhah Desert in the south-eastern countryside of Al-Raqqah.
Three other sheep herders are still missing and their fate is not known.
