Civilian mass exodus: Nearly 75,000 flee rural Idlib in less than five days as regime and Russia intensify military operations

Syrian Observatory activists report that displacement of civilians continues as Regime and Russia stepped up military operations in rural Idlib.

The number of people who have been forced to flee since the beginning of the ground offensive on the 24th of this month rose to 75,000 civilians, where thousands of air and ground strikes hit the area.

Activists told SOHR that the town of Saraqeb in eastern rural Idlib became completely empty after its residents being forced to flee with the other displaced people, who were already forced to flee from other areas to Saraqep, during the past few days and weeks.

Only few people left in eastern rural Saraqeb, and the reason for their stay is due to their poor financial conditions and their inability to afford the expenses of displacement and moving elsewhere.

The displacement is taking place from cities, towns and villages in western rural Maarrat Al-Nu’man, Saraqib town and countryside, Ariha city and the rest of Jabal Al-Zawiya in Idlib, as part of Syrian regime and Russia systematic policy of forced displacement by stepping up aerial and ground bombardment, in order to force civilians to flee their areas, so that they can unleash a vast ground military operation, as happened in Idlib and Hama, tens of thousands of these displaced people were originally families displaced earlier from Idlib, Hama and other Syrian areas to the western countryside of Aleppo.

Displaced people headed to the north-western countryside of Idlib near the Syrian border with Iskenderun brigade, while some others headed to Turkish forces and their proxies factions-held areas in rural Aleppo, amid International Community’s disregard towards crimes by the Syrian regime and Russians against civilians in camps and those who are searching for a new safe haven, with high cost of living and greed of war’s merchants, while Turkey’s solidarity merely on media at a time where its border guards continued to target and kill Syrians those who trying to cross into Turkish territory.

As displacement’s waves continues to rise, the number of displaced people since the middle of this month rose to 165,000 civilians, and the number of displaced people, since the beginning of December to date, rose to nearly 530,000 civilians, who have been forced to flee from the southern, eastern and southeastern Idlib countryside as well as the western Aleppo countryside.
