Regime approaches Idlib city and nearly 50,000 people displace within hours, more than 280,000 civilians have been displaced since mid-January

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored today the continuation of the humanitarian disaster and mass displacement of people from cities, towns, and villages of Idlib countryside, because of the military operations of the regime forces and the Russians, where the displacement movement started to take place from Idlib city after the regime forces arrived in al-Neirab town.

Idlib city and the surrounding towns have witnessed the displacement of hundreds of cars loaded with furniture, contents of shops, and the citizens heading north towards the unknown. Tens of villages and towns around city Idlib and Ariha are still witnessing continuous displacement of people, where Ariha city has been emptied of its population as a result of these accelerated military operations, in addition to the areas of Binnish, Taftanaz, and Sarmin, meaning that the displacement area has expanded to include new areas relatively far from Aleppo-Latakia international highway.

The number of people who have been forced to flee since the beginning of the ground offensive on the 24th of this month rose to 190,000 civilians, where thousands of air and ground strikes hit the area.

Displaced people headed to the north-western countryside of Idlib near the Syrian border with Iskenderun brigade, while some others headed to Turkish forces and their proxies factions-held areas in rural Aleppo, amid International Community’s disregard towards crimes by the Syrian regime and Russians against civilians in camps and those who are searching for a new safe haven, with high cost of living and greed of war’s merchants, while Turkey’s solidarity merely on media at a time where its border guards continued to target and kill Syrians those who try to cross into Turkish territory.

As displacement’s waves continue to rise, the number of displaced people since the middle of this month rose to 280,000 civilians, and the number of displaced people, since the beginning of December to date, rose to nearly 720,000 civilians, who have been forced to flee from the southern, eastern and southeastern Idlib countryside as well as the western Aleppo countryside.
