Turkish troops deploy in 46th regiment, west of Aleppo
SOHR sources report that Turkish forces set up a new post inside Syrian territory, establishing a military post in the 46th regiment in western rural Aleppo, as part of the continued deployment of Turks in Aleppo and Idlib.
Over the past few hours and days, Turkish forces were stationed at several locations and posts, most notably Taftanaz military airport, Talae Al Ba’ath camp in Al-Mustauma, Tal Qominas, west of Idlib city, and the 46th regiment, west of Aleppo.
Yesterday, the Syrian Observatory reported that Turkish military columns continued entering Idlib province, loaded with heavy weapons, tanks and military radars. Reliable source informed the Syrian Observatory that Turkish army preapared Syrian proxies factions in order to launch a large-scale military operation against regime forces if they do not retreat from areas they have advanced to nearby Turkish posts.
Last night, the Syrian Observatory reproted that a new military column entered to Syria, consisting of more than 100 trucks carrying tanks and artillery guns.
Yesterday, the Syrian Observatory monitored the entry of another column via Kafr Losin border crossing, consisting of 60 vehicles, including armoured vehicles, tanks and wheel loaders. The column headed to vicinity of Idlib city, where Turkish forces set up a new military post in Tal Qominas, southeast of Idlib city, near Aleppo-Latakia international highway.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored, during the period from February 2 to date, more than 1,450 Turkish trucks and military vehicles arrived in Syria, carrying tanks, personnel carriers, armoured vehicles, mobile bulletproof gurad booths and military radars, while the number of Turkish soldiers deployed in Idlib and Aleppo during the same period were at least 6,000 soldiers.
As regime forces continue their military operations in Idlib and Aleppo with full Russian support, Turkey continues sending military columns to Syria in order to deploy and set up new posts in Aleppo and Idlib.
These massive Turkish reinforcement did not come to monitor the implementation of the “de-escalation” agreement and ensure the peace and security of civilians, hundreds of thousands of whom have been displaced. Instead it seems that was brought in to implement Turkish-Russian agreements regarding Damascus-Aleppo and Aleppo-Latakia international highways.
Eight Turkish posts in Idlib and Aleppo have been besieged by regime forces since the beginning of the military operation, Al-Sarman, Tal al-Touqan, Ma’ar Hatat and four posts nearby Saraqeb in rural Idlib and Al-Ais in southern rural Aleppo, as happened months ago at the Turkish post in Murek.
