Russia and regime military operations: over 70,000 civilians forced to flee western rural Aleppo in the past 24 hours amid worsening humanitarian crisis

Massive exodus of civilians continue significantly from different areas in the western sector of rural Aleppo due to ongoing escalation of Syrian regime and Russians’ air and ground bombardment, as part of Russia and Syrian regime’s systematic policy to force more civilians to flee and therefore capturing more areas.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the displacement of more than 70,000 civilians from the towns and villages of western rural Aleppo in the past 24 hours, some of them several-times-displaced after being forced to flee during different periods as a result of military operations in Idlib, Hama and Aleppo.

The western countryside of Aleppo is overcrowded with displaced people from different areas, Syrian Observatory sources have said that the road from Atareb towards Afrin took more than 9 hours due to heavy jammed because of displacement.

It is also almost impossible to find shelter for displaced people in Afrin and countryside, Azaz, Atma, Qah, Aqrabat, and border areas with Iskenderun area, because all those areas are already overcrowded with displaced people, and sometimes more than six families share one house.

According to the Syrian Observatory statistics, the number of displaced people from Idlib since the start of the ground offensive on January 24 has reached some 350,000 Syrian civilians, while the number of displaced people from Aleppo and Idlib since mid-January has risen to 520,000, as military operations continue by air and land, while the total number since early December has risen to about 950,000 from Idlib and Aleppo.
