Coalition-backed SDF arrest five ISIS members east of Deir Ezzor

Syrian Observatory activists have reported that a group of Syria Democratic Forces, backed by four helicopters affiliated to the International Coalition, raided a refugee camp in Al-Shuhayl town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

Two helicopters landed in which SDF members, using loudspeakers, asked everyone to hold on their tents, and called upon a displaced family from Hama to come out and surrender. The campaign led to arresting four persons of the displaced family. It is revealed that the arrested persons are former ISIS members.

Separately, another SDF group arrested an ISIS member from his house in Al-Shuhayl town.

Observatory sources reported yesterday that that the Syrian Democratic Forces raided the School of Al-Shahabat in al-Hawayij village in western rural Deir ez-Zor amid extensive overflights of International Coalition aircraft over the area.

Several displaced people from Al-Mayadeen city living in the school were arrested. No information is available about the reasons for the arrest.

Similarly, SDF raided the house of a person in the city of Al-Busayrah, east of Deir ez-Zor, arresting two of his sons while the third son managed to escape.

Observatory sources added that the fugitive was the wanted person that SDF was looking for on charges of collecting illegal taxes “zakat” for ISIS.
