Cities across Syria prepare for Coronavirus while Idlib only raises awareness  

The areas held by opposition factions and HTS are still far from the world’s attention despite the ravages of war in those areas, and with the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in the neighboring countries and regime-controlled areas, which further aggravates the situation.

Idlib is now suffering from a humanitarian disaster following the military operation, which was suspended a few days ago under a Russian-Turkish agreement. Idlib is home to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons living in makeshift camps near the border with Iskenderun region, putting the lives of the largest population at great risk if the epidemic spreads among them. The directorate of endowments and Fatwa in Azaz city of northern Aleppo countryside also suspended prayers in groups and Friday prayers in mosques, while allowing only calls to prayers five times a day and opening the mosques to pray individually to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The Syrian Observatory has monitored several measures taken by the “self-administration” as part of preventive action against the spread of the Coronavirus, carrying out sterilization campaigns for public places and crowded areas.

In regime-controlled areas, municipal and health workers carry out sterilization campaigns for crowded areas and rise public awareness in several ways.

In the meantime, those who have been terrorized by the regime during nine years of war, bombing and displacement do not care about the danger of Coronavirus pandemic despite warnings.
