Regime intelligence arrest former opposition commander in Al-Quneitra triggering popular discontent and tension

Al-Quneitra Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Syrian Observatory sources have monitored popular discontent prevailing in areas in northern Al-Quneitra, as regime security services arrested a former commander of opposition factions in Al-Shawwali area. The commander is one of those who had their security situation settled with the regime. The area’s people demanded the release of the former commander, along with regime intelligence being on high alert.

In February, SOHR sources reported that unknown persons stuck leaflets on walls and shops in the villages of Sayda, Al-Hanout and Al-Maqraz in Al-Quneitra countryside, some of which read “Down with Al-Assad .. The Revolution continues .. We want the detainees to be released .. Al-Quneitra is free and Iran has to leave.”
