The explosion was caused by detonating an IED in the vehicle of a prominent commander in “National Defense Forces” (NDF). The commander was taken to a hospital in Damascus after sustaining serious injuries.

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported hearing clashes with light weapons yesterday in Hazza town in Eastern Ghouta in Rif Dimashq. According to SOHR sources, the clashes, which lasted for nearly two hours, followed an attack by unknown assailants on a checkpoint affiliated to the Republican Guard forces at the outskirts of Hazza town.

Local sources informed SOHR that ambulances have been heard rushing to the targeted checkpoint, which was likely that members of the checkpoint to be killed or injured.
