Military police’s indiscriminate fire kills security official of Ahrar Al-Sharqiyyah triggering fierce clashes in Al-Bab city

Syrian Observatory activists say that fierce clashes erupted between the Turkish-backed military police and Ahrar Al-Sharqiyyah, after the killing of the security official in Ahrar Al-Sharqiyyah in indiscriminate gunfire by military police in Al-Bab city.

Military police opened fire in Al-Bab city’s market to force shop owners to close their shops, as a part of precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The security official was hit by indiscriminate gunshot while he was passing by the market, which killed him instantly.

After the incident, Ahrar Al-Sharqiyyah mobilized its forces and attacked positions of the military police nearby Al-Bab hospital. The clashes left at least ten fighters injured in the ranks of both sides.

For their part, Ahrar Al-Sharqiyyah faction in Al-Bab city brought in military reinforcement from Afrin, amid escalating tension in the area.
