Young man from Latakia dies under torture in Saidnaya prison

Detainees in regime’s prisons are still subjected to brutal torture which claims the lives of many of them, at a time when the Syrian authorities release other detainees who have been held in these prisons for years.

SOHR activists have documented the death of a young man from Latakia under torture in Saidnaya prison.

With the death of more people, the number of civilian fatalities who were killed under torture by regime security services and documented by names rose to 16,171, and they are as follows: 15,983 men and young people, 125 children under the age of eighteen, and 64 women over the age of eighteen, among a total toll of some 104,000 people whom the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights verified their death in regime’s prisons.

Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that the victims were executed and killed in prisons and detention centers of regime forces and intelligence branches. More than 83% of the total death toll were liquidated, killed, and died in these prisons and detention centers between May 2013 and October 2015.

SOHR sources confirmed that more than 30,000 detainees were killed in the notorious prison of Sednaya, while the detention centers of Air-Force Intelligence department came in the second place.
