A second German fighter in YPG killed in clashes with “Islamic State”

SOHR knew that a German fighter died of wounds in clashes with IS in the attack launched by IS on YPG positions in July 6, that extended from the southwestern countryside of al- Hasakah passing through Ayn Isa in al- Raqqa and reaching to the vicinity of Serrin south of the city of Ayn al- Arab. SOHR published in June 30, that a fighter in YPG ranks from Australia died after he was wounded day ago in clashes in al- Kantari area in the northeast of al- Raqqa, where he joined YPG in early May, 2015.

 

It worth mentioning that 5 weeks ago, an American died during his fighting with YPG against IS in southeast of the city of Ayn al- Arab (Kobani). Another YPG fighter from the Persian nationalism from Iran died in clashes with IS in the south of the city of Ras al- Ayn (Sari Kanyi) in mid-May. In addition to, a female fighter of German national in YPG ranks died in clashes against IS around the town of Tal Tamer in last March. A British fighter YPG also died after he was wounded in clashes with IS in the area located between the two towns of Tal Hamis and al- Hol in the province of al- Hasakah in March 4. Another fighter from Australia killed in clashes with IS in the town of Tal Hamis in al- Hasakah in February 25.

 

It is noted also that SOHR published in June 11, that the number of fighters of foreign nationalities who joined YPG ranks in the last months in order to fight IS in al- Hasakah, al- Raqqa and Aleppo has reached to 400. The sources confirmed to SOHR that those fighters come from Europe, Australia, North America and South America. In addition, there are thousands of Kurdish fighters who come from Turkey and Iran.

 

In the second- third of May, the Marxist Leninist Communist Party (MLKP) formed its own first battalion in the city of Ras al- Ayn (Sari Kani) named al- Shahid Sarkan (the martyr Sarakan), who is one of its fighters who died in clashes with IS in Ras al- Ayn (Sari Kani). The party also includes fighters of several foreign nationalities. The sources confirmed to SOHR that 8 fighters in the party died in clashes with IS in several areas Ayn al- Arab and al- Hasakah, including a female fighter from Germany.
