US says Syrian air strikes a violation of truce deal

The United States said on Friday air strikes by Syrian government forces that reportedly hit civilians were a clear violation of the cessation of hostilities.

The United States urged Russia to use its influence with the Syrian government to encourage it to abide by the cessation of hostilities, which took effect on Feb. 27, State Department spokesman John Kirby said at a daily press briefing.
