Massive brawl in Hungary refugee camp sends eight to hospital

A mass brawl that broke out Sunday in a refugee camp in Hungary involving some 200 people sent eight to the hospital for their injuries, AFP reported.

The fight began when a group of about 20 people – including migrants from Algeria, Syria, Pakistan, and Mongolia – started a fistfight before attacking each other with furniture, government officials said.

The brawl, which occurred in the Kiskunhalas camp close to the southern border with Serbia, needed almost 200 police to restore order.

The Kiskunhalas camp is one of three in Hungary where asylum claims are processed.

About 400,000 refugees and migrants traveled through Hungary last year before the right-wing Hungarian government closed its southern borders, using razor wire and fences to prevent more people from entering.
