Turkish Jandarma kills 12 citizens today, raises the number of people killed by their fire to about 150 since the beginning of the year 2016

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the Turkish border guards opened the fire of their machineguns and snipers during the past 24 hours  on citizens who tried to cross from the Syrian territory towards the Turkish side, killing 12 civilians including 5 children and 2 citizen women, and several others were injured in the areas of Qahtaniyah (Torbeh Sebieh) in the eastern countryside of al-Qameshly, and the area of Nos Tal in the countryside of Ras al-Ayn (Sri Kaneh) and Kahila area in the countryside of Tal Abyad, where the bodies of some of them are still in the place where they were killed, the Turkish forces prevent  approaching them, which raise to 145, including 29 children and 13 citizen women, the number of people who were documented by the Syrian Observatory for human rights since the beginning of the year 2016 until today the 27th of September, due to continued targeting by the Turkish Jandarma Forces “Border Guards” for the Syrian citizens who have fled the ongoing military operations in their areas, towards places they can in which they can find a safe haven, to keep them away from the death that persecutes them in their homeland Syria, with the killing machine’s continued soul reaping of more civilians, from the death by barrel bombs, missiles, shells, in the prisons and poor living conditions with the insecurity, so their children’s fate don’t be the same as the fate of more than 15 thousand children killed since the start of the Syrian revolution, or as the fate of tens of thousands of other children who have been permanently disabled, or as the fate of thousands of children who were forced in military operations and were turned into fighters and bombers.

The 12th of January 2016 was date of the death of the first citizen in this year by the fire of the Turkish border guards while he was trying to cross towards the Turkish territories from Al-Hasaka province, also families and groups who tried to enter the Turkish side through the border of the provinces of Al-Hasakah, Al-Raqqah, Aleppo, Idlib and Latakia have had the same fate, and tens of others were injured and were beaten after being arrested by the Turkish border guards during cross attempts.

We in the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, we call again the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the European Union, to put pressure on the Turkish government, so their Border Guard stop targeting the Syrian refugees, also the Syrian Observatory calls on the Turkish government to open safe corridors for the Syrian refugees, so the smugglers across both sides of the border don’t take advantage of them, the smugglers who take huge amount of money in order to get them to the safe side of the border, also the Syrian Observatory for human rights calls on the Turkish government again, to provide Jandarma members who killed the Syrian refugees to justice.
