Violent clash associated with the escalation of airstrikes raise death toll to more than 300 in 9 days of the most violent attack on Deir Ezzor in a year

the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that violent clashes are still taking place between the “Islamic State” organization against the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them on the outskirts of Deir Ezzor city and its vicinity, where clashes between both parties are concentrated in the cemeteries area and in the vicinity of Panorama area, in conjunction with tens of raids carried out by regime’s warplanes and the Russian warplanes as well on the clash areas and the clash fronts between both parties, and on other areas in Deir Ezzor city, amid shelling by the regime forces using rocket and artillery shells, while the “Islamic State” organization targeting using several shells areas in the neighborhoods of Harabesh, Jura and al-Qosur in Deir Ezzor city.

These clashes resulted in more casualties documented by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, raising to 303 at least the number of persons who were killed in the city of Deir Ezzor since the organizing started its attack on the 14th of January 2017, among them there are 62 including 18 children and 13 citizen woman, they are 29 citizens including 9 children and 9 citizen women were killed in bombing by warplane on Deir Ezzor city and the towns of Muhassan and al-Boleel in its eastern countryside, in addition to 33 including 4 citizen women and 9 children were killed in shelling by the “Islamic State” organization on regime forces’ controlled areas in the city of Deir Ezzor, also tens of others were wounded in the raids, in addition to the physical damage in the property of citizens, also it rose to 84 including several officers (and one of them a brigadier) the number of killed members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them, while it rose to 157, the number of killed members of the “Islamic State” organization of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, also tens of others were wounded in the ranks of both parties.

It is worth mentioning that this rise in the death toll coma as a result of the continued violent clashes between both parties, the renewed violent and intense bombardment and airstrikes, detonating booby trapped vehicles and exchange of targeting in the city of Deir Ezzor, and it is the most violent attack by the organization since January 2016, during of which the organization controlled large parts of al-Bogeleyyah area at ​​the northwest of Deir Ezzor city, and killed and executed nearly 150 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them and of families of NDF and national army members and members of the Baath Party from the city, in addition to kidnapping more than 400 people from the neighborhood and from northwest of Deir Ezzor, they were civilians and families of the gunmen loyal to the regime.
