The Russian military base in Afrin aims to train Kurdish forces and prevent contact with Turkish forces

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights obtained information from several reliable sources in ​​Afrin area which is located in the northwestern countryside of Aleppo; that tens of Russian soldiers have entered the area along with vehicles and machines and positioned in the countryside of the city, and in the details documented by the Syrian Observatory: about 100 members of the Russian special forces have entered with vehicles and armored vehicles to “Afrin province”, within an agreement between the Russian forces and Kurdish forces, and the sources confirmed to the Observatory that these forces will take position in a camp in Kafr Janah area in the countryside of Afrin, provided that they prepare for establishing a Russian military base, which in turn will do two main tasks, the first task is to prevent the contact between the Kurdish forces and Turkish forces within the borders of “Afrin province” and the Kurdish forces’ controlled areas, in addition to that they will train the Kurdish forces
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights had published earlier about the presence of Russian connection offices in “Afrin province”, including offices in the south of Marea town in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
