The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights verified with the crossed sources that the water and power outages in Al-Raqqah city came in parallel with stopping the work in the strategic Dam of Euphrates located north of al-Tabaqa city on the Euphrates River in the western countryside of Al-Raqqah city, where resentment is prevailing the residents due to this outages, also the tension is prevailing Al-Raqqah city because the continuity of the outages, with fears spreading in the city created by the rumors in the city during the past few days about the possibility of the collapse of the Euphrates Dam and drowning large areas of the countryside of Al-Raqqah and other Syrian areas.

also the activists of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in the Al-Raqqah city monitored a state of confusion and panic that took place when the rumors about the near collapse of the Euphrates Dam took place, where the citizens rushed and fled to the hills and highlands around Al-Raqqah city, in an attempt to survive themselves in the event of the collapse of the dam, also the activists of the Observatory monitored the “Islamic state” organization run patrols and be in alert situation in an attempt to prevent the citizens from escaping to outside the city, but the panic, fear and the number of persons who were fleeing the city to its outskirts exceeded the organization’s ability to contain the situation, and the “Islamic State” organization took the initiative to deny these rumors through its patrols.
