2 Airdrop missions by the international coalition on the administrative border between Al-Raqqah and Deir Ezzor target members of the “Islamic State” organization

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights received information from reliable sources who confirmed to the observatory that an airdrop mission took place in the afternoon of today the 8th of January 2017, in al-Kubar area in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor near Ma’dan area east of Al-Raqqah, and in details obtained by the Syrian Observatory; 4 helicopters believed to belong to the International Coalition (the nationality of the helicopters is not known yet) landed in the area located between the villages of al-Kubar and al-Jazrah in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, accompanied by two warplanes which were providing protection and securing the place, where a car carrying members of the “Islamic State” organization was targeted what killed all who were in the car. The members who disembarked from the helicopter established checkpoints on the road between the village of al-Kubar and the nearby water station; and between it and the village of al-Jazrah.

The Sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that among the members who carried out the airdrop mission in al-Kubar area members who speak Arabic, and that they did not interfere with the civilians who have passed in the area at the time of carrying out the airdrop mission, also the members who carried out the airdrop mission attacked the water station near al-Kubar village, where they killed and captured several members of the “Islamic State” organization, and they took with them all bodies of members of the organization when they were leaving the area, the sources confirmed that the operation was done this afternoon and lasted until 4 pm Syria time (GMT+3), and that the warplanes was seen coming from the north of Syria, also the mission have killed 25 members of the “Islamic State” organization at least, in addition to capturing other members of the organization.

And in the same context, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights was informed by reliable sources that another airdrop mission took place on the administrative border between the provinces of Al-Raqqah and Deir Ezzor, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory; 2 helicopters belong to the International Coalition landed in al-Tebni desert at the extreme western countryside of Deir Ezzor, and from both helicopters disembarked fighters believed to be from a joint force from the fighters of the International Coalition and the Syria Democratic Forces, and they targeted a car carrying 4 members of the “Islamic State” organization (it is not known yet whether commanders were among them or not), where the 4 members of the organization were killed after the clashes that took place between both parties with light weapons, but the Syrian observatory did not receive information whether the force that carried out the airdrop mission had taken with it with the bodies of any of the killed members. Followed by a state of alert in the area after the end of the airdrop mission.
