Walking the footsteps of Manbij… Negotiations take place to provide a passage for members of the “Islamic State” organization from al-Tabaqa towards Al-Raqqah city

Reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that negotiations are taking place by local mediators in the city of al-Tabaqa which is located in the western countryside of Al-Raqqah city, in an attempt to secure a passage to get the remaining members of the “Islamic State” organization out of al-Tabaqa towards Al-Raqqah city, the sources informed the Observatory that the negotiations take place between the elders and mediators of the city and between the Syria Democratic Forces and the forces of “Euphrates Wrath” operation, in an attempt to secure passage for members of the organization out of the city, after the organization’s retreat where until now they control the 1st and 2nd neighborhoods in al-Tabaqa city, while the Syria Democratic Forces and US Special forces are in control of about 80% of al-Tabaqa area.

The sources confirmed that no results were reached about mediations, while the attempts continue to reach an agreement that ends the current fight in al-Tabaqa , in a scenario similar to what happened in Manbij city in 2016, where the Syria Democratic Forces managed to control the city of Manbij almost entirely after the continued clashes since the 31st of May 2016 until the 12th of August 2016, following the withdrawal of the “Islamic State” organization out of places in it along with families of its members and civilians unwilling to stay under the control of the Syria Democratic Forces.
