Tens of air raids, shells and missiles target in the 24 hours the last neighborhood controlled by the factions east of Damascus in preparation for a military operation

The regime forces continue to escalate the shelling since 0y Thursday, the 15th of June 2017, on Jobar neighbourhood at the eastern outskirts of Damascus city, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored the warplanes since this morning carrying out at least 17 raids on the neighbourhood, in conjunction with shelling about 7 artillery and rocket shells on places in Jobar neighborhood, raising to 27 at least, the number of raids that targeted the neighbourhood in the last 24 hours, as well as shelling about 20 artillery and rocket shells, and also 6 missiles believed to be ground-to-ground, in the context of the constant escalation on the neighbourhood for the second consecutive day.

These raids and escalation of shelling east of Damascus was accompanied by 3 raids carried out by warplanes on Ayn Tarma town in the eastern Ghouta, adjacent to the neighbourhood of Jobar, while reliable sources suggested to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that this escalation comes as a preparation by the regime forces for a military operation to end the presence of rebel and Islamic factions in the east of the capital Damascus, by advancing in Jobar neighbourhood and forcing the factions to withdraw to the Eastern Ghouta, also this escalation came since yesterday after 52 days of calm accompanied by sporadic shelling by the regime forces on Jobar neighbourhood, also this is the first escalation of its kind since the end of the displacement process and the exit of the last batch out of the eastern neighborhoods of the capital of Damascus on the 29th of May 2017.
