The Eastern Ghouta ends its first week with more violations

The Eastern Ghouta truce, which came into force on the 22nd of July 2017, ended its first week with a violation, documented by the SOHR, committed by the regime forces who fired a shell on an area at the outskirts of Jesrin town, located in the Eastern Ghouta, causing material damages only. This followed the calm that prevailed since after midnight. The SOHR documented yesterday that a missile, believed to be ground-to-ground, was fired at the outskirts of the Jaysh Al-Islam-controlled Hosh Al-Dawahra town in Al-Marj area in the Eastern Ghouta, causing material damages. Explosions were also heard and turned out to be caused by the targeting of positions of the regime forces there by the factions. No casualties have been reported so far. Meanwhile, violent clashes broke out between the regime forces and their allied militiamen on one hand and Al-Rahman Corps on the other in areas in the vicinity of Ein Tarma Valley. Moreover, clashes broke out at the Vehicle Management front, from Arbin side, between the regime forces and their allied militiamen on one hand and Al-Rahman Corps. No casualties were reported.

The SOHR also documented yesterday that the regime forces fired 3 shells on areas in Jobar neighborhood, east of Damascus, and 3 more on areas at the outskirts of Ein Tarma town at the western outskirts of the Eastern Ghouta. Meanwhile, warplanes carried out 5 raids on areas at the outskirts of Al-Zriqiyyeh and Otaya town, located in Al-Marj area in the Eastern Ghouta, causing the injury of 5 persons at least. Clashes also broke out between the regime forces and their allied militiamen on one hand and the Islamic factions on the other in ‘Arafa area in Jobar neighborhood. No casualties were reported. Moreover, at least two members of the regime forces were killed the day before yesterday and 9 others were injured, with varied degrees of severity, in clashes that broke out this morning in Jobar neighborhood at the eastern outskirts of Damascus, which is the last neighborhood under the control of the factions in the eastern part of the capital. Clashes broke out as a result of an attack by the regime forces in an attempt to advance into the area. All these casualties have fallen in the east of Damascus since the truce came into effect in the Eastern Ghouta and east Damascus.
