Intensive shelling by the regime forces leaves 10 casualties and injured east of Damascus and at the outskirts of the Eastern Ghouta.

The Eastern Ghouta truce continues to hold on since it came into force on the 22nd of July 2017, However, the SOHR documented intensive shelling this morning, the 1st of August 2017, that targeted areas at the outskirts of Jobar neighborhood, east of Damascus, and Ein Tarma town, which is adjacent to the neighborhood at the western outskirts of the Eastern Ghouta. The regime forces targeted both areas with around 25 missiles, believed to be ground-ground, causing the death of a female citizen and the injury of seven others, with various degrees of severity, in Ein Tarma. The number of martyrs is likely to rise because some of the injured are in a critical condition. The intensive shelling also caused destruction and material damages to the civilians’ properties.  The regime forces also shelled places in Al-Ash’ari area in the Eastern Ghouta. However, no casualties were reported.

The SOHR had also documented other violations of the Eastern Ghouta truce, which came into force on the 22nd of July 2017. The regime forces shelled areas at the outskirts of Jobar neighborhood and Ein Tarma town, which are adjacent to each other. They also opened fire using their heavy machine-guns on areas in Ein Tarma Valley.
