Madan and three other villages end the presence of the “Islamic State” organization in the countryside of Al-Raqqah

Clashes are taking place  in the eastern countryside of the city of Al-Raqqah, between the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities Russian trained-and-armed clan forces on one hand, and members of the “Islamic State” organization on the other, in areas in the eastern countryside of Al-Raqqah, on the southern banks of the Euphrates River, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the regime forces managed to achieve an important advancement, as a part of their attempt to end the presence of the “Islamic State” organization in the rest of the eastern countryside of Al-Raqqah, where they took control of a number of villages and residential areas between the town of Ghanim Al Ali and Madan city, and less than 4 kilometers separating the regime forces from arriving to the walls of the city of Madan, which is considered the last city controlled by the organization in Al-Raqqah Province.

This important advancement was supported by a cover of intensive and violent shelling by the regime forces with shells and missiles, and the raids carried out by regime’s warplanes as well as the Russian warplanes, which destroyed hundreds of houses, shops, buildings, infrastructures and public facilities, and also resulted in displacing thousands of citizens to areas controlled by the Syria Democratic Forces and areas in the northern banks of the Euphrates River, and if the regime forces could take control of Madan city and the rest three areas, they would have ended the presence of the “Islamic State” organization in the eastern countryside of Al-Raqqah, thus, the “Islamic State” organization would have an area which is less than the size of Al-Raqqah City, where daily violent clashes take place between the SDF supported by warplanes of the International Coalition and the US Special Forces on one hand, and members of the organization on the other.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also documented the death of 18 members at least of the “Islamic State” organization, and the injury of others by the intensive ground and aerial shelling, and information about the death and injury of members of the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also published on Friday that the regime forces try to end the presence of the “Islamic State” organization in its remainder sections of the southern banks of the Euphrates River, in the eastern countryside of Al-Raqqah, by starting their new attack here, after they managed to achieve an important advancement and take the control of a number of villages in addition to their control on Ghanim al-Ali town, during the last week, supported by a cover of intensive bombing and artillery and missile shelling on remainder areas controlled by the “Islamic State” organization in the eastern countryside of Al-Raqqah, resulting in a wide movement of displacement of hundreds of families towards areas controlled by the Syria Democratic Forces and the northern banks of the Euphrates River.
