Regime forces escalate their targeting on the north of Homs, kill 3 people and injure several others

Homs province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that violent clashes are taking place between regime forces and gunmen loyal to them on one hand, and the members of ISIS on the other, in areas in the west of Jabal Sha’ir and its oil field, in an attempt by regime forces to achieve advancement in the area, and take the control of the strategic mountain of Al-Sawwana, as part of the seeking of regime forces to reduce the size of areas controlled by ISIS within the besieged circle days ago, after advancing by regime forces from the side of Ithriyah and their ability to reach Jabal Sha’ir and impose a siege on eastern countryside of Hama and the part which is connected to it of the eastern countryside of Homs.

On the other hand, regime forces shelled areas in Al-Rastan city of Al-Rastan in the northern countryside of Homs, which resulted in the death of a child and the injury of other people, a man was also killed by shelling by regime forces on areas in Taldou town in the northern countryside of Homs, thus, the number of casualties who were killed in the northern countryside of Homs during the past 24 hours, has increased to 3 people, they are a man was killed after being shot by a sniper in the vicinity of Al-Rastan and a man and a child were killed by shelling on Taldou and Al-Rastan, while regime forces opened fire of their heavy machineguns on areas in Al-Ghantu town in northern countryside of Homs

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published few hours ago that areas in the towns of Taldo and KafrLaha in the Houla area in the northern countryside of Homs, were shelled by the regime forces which caused material damage and injured several people, followed by shelling by the factions on positions of the regime forces in al-Qabu area in the same countryside, while a child died affected by injuries he had in raids by warplanes on areas in Kafr Laha town a few days ago, the Syrian Observatory published hours ago that warplanes carried out several raids on areas in the villages of Sensil and al-Mahatta in the northern countryside of Homs. There was no information about casualties. The warplanes bombed places in the al-Houla area in the northern countryside of Homs, injuring some people.

Also the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published earlier that the Russian-Egyptian truce in the northern countryside of Homs, which came into force on the 3rd of August 2017, came to failure on the 10th of August. The SOHR published then that several reliable sources confirmed to the Observatory that the truce of the northern countryside of Homs failed, one week after coming into effect, as a result of the escalated shelling on areas there. However, contradictory information was reported about the reasons behind its failure as the truce mainly aimed at “deescalating tensions and military operation in the northern countryside of Homs”. Some parties accused the regime forces of not abiding by the ceasefire agreement there, while others said that the parties to the negotiations believed that such an agreement did not fulfill their demands.
