The regime forces prepare to break the siege of the second besieged area in Deir Ezzor city through carrying out a second attack and increase the shelling on the outskirts and the vicinity of the city

The regime forces and warplanes continue targeting the vicinity of Deir Ezzor military base, which is besieged by ISIS, as the regime forces and their allied militiamen continue their operations to approach its military base coming from the western desert of Deir Ezzor, after these forces managed hours ago to break the siege on Regiment 137 and managed to advance and meet the besieged forces. The SOHR monitored that the regime forces managed, through this operation, to break the siege of the largest part of the besieged areas controlled by the regime in the city of Deir Ezzor, which includes Regiment 137, Jam’eyat al-Zohour, the neighborhoods of al-Joura and al-Qusour, a part of al-Rashidyah and al-Hawika neighborhoods, and parts of al-Jabila and al-Mowazafeen neighborhoods. All of these areas, which are located in the northwestern part of the city, are considered the largest besieged part of the city, while the second areas include Deir Ezzor military base, its vicinity and the neighborhoods of Harabesh, Tahtouh and parts of al-Rasafa neighborhood in the southeastern part of the city, and the neighborhoods of al-Sen’a, Hamidiya, Omal and the Old Airport and al-Oraphy, which are completely controlled by ISIS, separate between these 2 areas, while the organization partially controls the neighborhoods of Al-Hawiqa, Rashidiyah, Al-Jabila, Al-Mowazafeen, Al-Rasafa, in addition to its control over the areas of Hawiga Sakar, Al-Baghiliya in the outskirts of Deir Ezzor.

Reliable sources asserted to the SOHR that the regime forces will continue advancing to Deir Ezzor military base, and target the Mountain of Tharda, which is controlled by ISIS, in conjunction with a wide scale attack might be launched by the regime forces at any moment from within the city of Deir Ezzor towards the area separating between the two besieged areas, where the Mountain overlooking Deir Ezzor, the cemetery area and Tharda Mount, which are controlled by ISIS, are considered an obstacle before the regime forces to link these two besieged areas together. The SOHR monitored violent clashes taking place between the regime forces and their allied militiamen against members of the organization in areas in the neighborhoods of Rashidia and Hawiqa, which are adjacent to the Euphrates River, within the operations of the regime forces aiming at advancing inside the city and advancing along the river.

These clashes and preparations, which aimed at restoring the full control over Deir Ezzor city and breaking the entire siege on the city, come in conjunction with tens of airstrikes targeting the western desert of Deir Ezzor, the outskirts of the city, and the area of al-Taym oilfield and the area of ​​the military base.
