Violent attack carried out by suicide bombers and intruders of ISIS stops crossing the advanced forces towards the Brigade 137 and makes firearm siege again on Deir Ezzor

Violent explosions shook areas in the vicinity of Deir Ezzor city, caused by explosions and escalated shelling on the area, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the “Islamic State” organization started a violent counter attack in the sunset of Tuesday the 5th of September 2017, targeted the gap which was opened by the regime forces in the middle of the minefield in the Brigade 137, where groups of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them managed to cross through it, to the Brigade 137 area, which has been besieged for more than 32 months, and where they managed to achieved the first step to lift the siege of the besieged area in the north-western section of Deir Ezzor city, which includes the Brigade 137, an which is connected with Jam’eyyat Al-Zuhor, Al-Jorah and Al-Qosur neighborhoods and a part of Al-Rashideen and Al-Hawaiqah neighborhoods, and parts of Al-Jibailyah and Al-Mwazafeen neighborhoods.

Reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the “Islamic State” organization started its attack by exploding 4 booby trapped vehicles targeted the regime forces in the area of the gap which is connecting between the advanced forces and the brigade 137, amid an attack by intruders and groups of ISIS members, where the clashes are taking place between them on one hand, and the members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities on the other, accompanied by intensive shelling by the organization and violent shelling by the regime forces, in an attempt to prevent the organization from re-blocking the gap and imposing the siege again over the north-western area of Deir Ezzor city, and confirmed information about the death and the injury of members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them in this attack, in addition to the death of members of the organization in this attack, and sources confirmed to the SOHR that the gap which the regime forces crossed to the Brigade 137 is no longer safe after observing snipers and members of the “Islamic State” organization.

And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on Tuesday that the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, were able to finish the mine removing process and opened a corridor for their forces to meet with their other forces besieged in the Brigade 137, after being able to achieve a broad advancement coming from al-Bashri Mountain and the road of al-Sukhnah – Deir Ezzor, making the first step in breaking the siege of Deir Ezzor city, where the organization has been besieging neighborhoods controlled by the regime forces since the beginning of 2015, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that the regime forces were able to achieve this strategic advancement with a cover of violent artillery and rocket shelling, and intense air raids, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on yesterday that If the regime forces managed to unite, they would take the first step in lifting the siege imposed on tens of thousands of citizens in areas controlled by the regime forces in the city. They would also help the citizens to move through a road that would take them to the regime, SDF and factions – controlled areas. A large number of families who come from other areas have been besieged in the city since the beginning of January 2015. Lifting the siege would also help deliver food, medical supplies and life necessities to the regime-controlled areas in the city.
