After a week of breaking the siege on the media, the regime forces managed actually to break the siege of neighborhoods in the city

More than 230 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen and ISIS were killed within a week of battles to break the siege on Deir Ezzor

 

The outskirts and the vicinity of Deir Ezzor city are still witnessing violent clashes, in which the regime forces seek to expel the “Islamic State” organization from the city, after they managed to open corridors toward the areas besieged since the beginning of 2015, and in which the siege has intensified since the beginning of 2017, where the regime forces managed on the  10th of September 2017 to actually break the siege of the besieged neighborhoods inside the city, after reaching the western entrance of the city and imposing full control over the road of Deir Ezzor – Damascus road, and also managed to cross from the cemetery area to Deir Ezzor military base days after they broke the siege on Regiment 137.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that violent clashes are taking place between the regime forces and their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian militants against members of ISIS in areas in the vicinity of al-Bogeleyyah Bogeleyyah  area northwestern the city of Deir Ezzor, in an attempt by the regime forces to expand their areas of control in the vicinity of the city before they start their military operations inside the city, as these clashes are accompanied by continuous and violent fighting between the regime forces and their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against members of ISIS in areas in the outskirts of al-Ommal neighborhood in the power station and the vicinity of the area of the mountain overlooking Deir Ezzor, within the attempts of the regime forces to expand the corridor that links the block of Regiment 137 to Deir Ezzor military base block, while these clashes are accompanied by bombings, heavy missile and artillery shelling and aerial bombardment by the regime forces and their warplanes and helicopters and the Russian warplanes on the areas of the presence of the organization and its areas of control, causing the death and injuries of tens of members of both parties.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented, during these violent clashes since the 3rd of September 2017 until the 10th of September 2017, the death of tens of members of both parties, as well as the injury of others with different severity, where it rose to at least 174, the number of members of ISIS, including at least 29 members of them who blew themselves up with explosive belts and booby-trapped vehicles, while it rose to at least 57, including 11 officers of different ranks, the number of members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, who were killed in the bombing and clashes and shelling in the same period, and the death toll is expected to increase because of the presence of injured people in serious conditions.
