After they besieged the “Islamic State” organization in the city … the regime forces with the Russian support extend their scope of control to about 75% of the area of Deir Ezzor

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the violent clashes are still taking place between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities on one hand, and the members of the “Islamic State” organization on the other, in the outskirts of Hawija Sakr, after the organization fought desperately to retake the control of the area which the regime forces clamped down on it greatly, after they besieged the organization in side Deir Ezzor city, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights observed that the regime forces managed to increase their scope of control in Deir Ezzor city, thus, the area of their control in the city reaches 74.8% of the area of the city, while the scope of control of the organization minimized to 25.2% of area of Deir Ezzor city, and the regime forces are preparing after they brought military reinforcements during the past days to a military operation which will enable them to force the organization to withdraw from the city, and impose their control on the neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor city, where the scope of control is divided between the organization and the regime forces, in which ISIS controls Jam’eyyat Al-Zohur and Al-Jorah and Al-Qosur neighborhoods and Hawija Sakr and parts of Al-Rashdiyah and Al-Hwiqa neighborhoods and parts of Al-Jabilah and Al-Mowazzafin neighborhoods which form the biggest besieged bloc in the city and which is located in the north-western section of the city, and Harabesh and Al-Tahtoh neighborhoods and parts of Al-Rasafa neighborhood in the north-eastern section of the city, while ISIS controls Al-Sena’aa, Al-Hemaydiah, Al-Ommal, Al-Mataar Al-Qadeem and Al-Arfy, while it shares the control of Al-Rashdiyah, Al-Hwiqa, Al-Jabilah, Al-Mowazzafin and Al-Rasafa.

The military operations in Deir Ezzor province against the “Islamic State” organization, to end its presence in the last biggest presence of it in Syria, accompanied by continuous shelling, as the artillery of the regime forces and their warplanes and helicopters as well as the Russian warplanes and Helicopters didn’t stop, as a result of continuing their bombing the city, its eastern and western countryside and the western and eastern banks of the Euphrates River, accompanied by shelling by the International Coalition warplanes on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, and other areas in the province, thus, they increased the number of casualties and killed citizens of the province, under the pretext of “liberating Deir Ezzor and fighting the “Islamic State” organization”.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented since the 10th of September 2017, the date of lifting the siege on Deir Ezzor city in real and complete terms, until the 18th of September 2017, the date of enabling the siege on the “Islamic State” organization inside Deir Ezzor city, and crossing the regime forces to the eastern banks opposite the city, the death of 191 citizens including 63 child under the age of eighteen, and 24 citizen women over the age of eighteen, they are 93 citizens including 21 children and 13 citizen women were killed by the Russian raids on the villages and towns of Bokros, Al-Kharita, Muhasan, Sa’wah, Zughayr, Al-Bomar, Al-Shaf’ah and Jadid Bakkara and other areas in Deir Ezzor countryside, and 9 citizens they are 7 children and two citizen women were killed by shelling by the regime forces on the villages opposite Deir Ezzor city on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, and 89 citizens including 35 children and 9 citizen women, were killed by the International Coalition strikes on cities, towns and villages of Al-Bokamal, Al-Mayadin, Mahkan, Al-Shuhail, Al-Shahabat, Mazlum and Khusham and several other areas in the countryside of the city, the strikes also resulted in the injury of more than 430 persons with varying degrees of severity, some of them are in serious cases, which may lead to the increase of the number of casualties.

And with increasing the level of the shelling and intensifying it, on the cities, towns and villages, displacement is continuing from Deir Ezzor countryside, where new families leave villages and houses, as a result of the escalation of the aerial and the ground shelling, heading to areas far from the shelling, and a lot of families headed to al-Mayadin area and other areas in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and these consecutive massacres which caused by the continuous shelling on the eastern and western banks of the Euphrates River, resulted in escalating the resentment of the citizens because of the bombing by the forces which claimed that they came to “set citizens free”, and because of their targeting citizens during their displacement from the intensive shelling on the city of Deir Ezzor and its countryside, under the pretext of “fighting the Islamic State organization”, and several strikes targeted displacement camps and tens of ferry boats which the citizens turned to use to travel between the western and the eastern banks of the Euphrates River, after most of the bridges over the river had been shelled by the Russian warplanes as well as the International Coalition warplanes during the past months.
