The “Islamic State” organization is collapsing in the western banks of the Euphrates River in Deir Ezzor and the regime forces arrive to the administrative border with al-Raqqah province

After they were besieged in the city of Deir Ezzor, the regime forces control more than 100 km of the banks of the Euphrates in the province

Deir Ezzor province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:: the northwestern countryside of Deir Ezzor city is witnessing the collapse and retreat of the “Islamic State” organization, amid and advancement of the regime forces at its expense. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the regime forces while achieving an advancement in the area with the support of their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, and their control over villages and towns on the western banks of the Euphrates River in the northwestern countryside of Deir Ezzor, where the regime forces advanced and extended their areas of control to be more than 100 km as they also managed to control the entire western banks of the Euphrates River and the northwestern countryside of Deir Ezzor city, after they controlled an areas not more than 4 kilometers.

The advancement of the regime forces, which came under a cover of missile and artillery shelling and aerial bombardment by Russian and the regime’s warplanes and the militiamen allied to the regime forces, allowed the regime forces to reach the administrative border of the province with the eastern countryside of Al-Raqqah, in which the “Islamic state” organization exists and controls Madaan city, which is the last city controlled by ISIS in the province of Al-Raqqa. ISIS also controls several villages nearby the city of Madaan on the southern banks of the Euphrates River.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also monitored that the regime forces managed, through this advance, to completely encircle the ‘Islamic State” organization within its areas of control in the southeastern countryside of al-Raqqa. Meanwhile, clashes are taking place between both parties, amid heavy shelling of the regime forces on the clash areas.

The Syrian Observatory published 10 days ago that the regime forces managed to open the artery coming from Damascus, and the operation of lifting the siege was carried out on 3 stages the first was to lift the siege on the Brigade 137, then lifting the siege of Deir Ezzor Military Airport and the bloc of neighborhoods related to it, and the third stage was to reach the western entrance of Deir Ezzor city at the area of Panorama area after taking the control of Damascus – Deir Ezzor road, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights observed during the past 24 hours intensive violent shelling by artillery shells and tanks of the regime forces accompanied by dozens of raids by Russian as well as the regime’s warplanes and helicopters, which were accompanied by a violent attack in which the regime forces failed to reach Hwejat Kate’ in the Euphrates River, where these forces tried to achieve advancement during Al-Hwiqa neighborhood, within desperate attempts by the regime forces to besiege the organization in the city or force it to withdraw before encircling the city.

Reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the regime forces which control about 64.3% of the area of Deir Ezzor which is 34.7 square kilometers, are trying to shorten the military operation in Deir Ezzor and hurry to finish it, to achieve “morale victory” by repeating the attempts to besiege the whole city, and to force the “Islamic State” organization to withdraw from areas of its control which are 35.7% of the area of the city, in order not to turn the military operation by the regime into street war which will result in falling casualties in the ranks of them, especially the regime forces intend to head after Deir Ezzor city, to control its countryside.
