The clashes are still taking place in the western desert of Deir Ezzor and the eastern and southeastern deserts of Homs, between the regime forces supported by the gunmen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against members of the “Islamic State” organization, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the regime forces during their counterattack on the areas to which the “Islamic State” organization advanced yesterday were able to achieve a wide advancement and regain control of most of the places they lost in the area stretching from the vicinity of Deir Ezzor city to al-Qaryatayn area, which is a front extending along about 300 km.

In these violent clashes the “Islamic State” organization tried to prove its strength and overcome its collapse before local, regional and international public opinion, and also tried to disperse regime forces and targeted them by sudden, simultaneous, violent and massive attacks, where hundreds of members of the organization carried out these attacks, and they were capable of inflicting heavy casualties in the ranks of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, but also they themselves suffered a significant human losses in their ranks, where it rose to 128 at least, including about 50 non-Syrian nationalities and at least 20 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah, the number of casualties of the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them who were killed in 48 hours of violent attacks in the vicinity of Deir Ezzor city, its western desert until the reaching Al-Qaryatayn city in the southeastern countryside of Homs, also in the attacks members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them were captured, in addition to the killing of more members of the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them, raising the death toll to about 90 members (some of them detonated themselves  up using explosive belts and booby trapped vehicles), and the regime forces are still trying to advance and control what they lost.

It worth mentioning that on the 10th of September 2017, the regime forces managed to open the main road coming from Damascus, and the operation of lifting the siege was carried out on 3 stages the first was to lift the siege on the Brigade 137, then lifting the siege of Deir Ezzor Military Airport and the bloc of neighborhoods related to it, and the third stage was to reach the western entrance of Deir Ezzor city at the area of Panorama area after taking the control of Damascus – Deir Ezzor road.
