After imposing their siege on the city, the regime forces start their attack on Deir Ezzor city and fierce clashes take place in its neighborhoods

As a part of their efforts to achieve further advancement at the expense of the “Islamic State” organization, the regime forces intend to carry out simultaneous operations in Deir Ezzor province, backed by allied armed militiamen Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities and under the command of the Russian forces, in order to scatter the ranks of the organization and disperse its strength, as well as keeping it busy fighting in more than one front in order not to give it a chance to transport the fighters and the reinforcements from one front to another, in which the fighting between the regime forces and ISIS is going on in three front simultaneously, they are the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor front, the east of the Euphrates front at the banks opposite the city, and the third is the front of Deir Ezzor city, where the fighting broke out today between the both parties fiercely, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the violent fighting is concentrated between the both parties in al-Sena’aa and Al-Ommal neighborhoods, following a violent attack carried out by the regime forces today the 16th of October 2017, amid advancement by the regime forces in areas in both of the neighborhoods, in conjunction with violent shelling on the city, by the regime forces, as well as intense bombing by the Russian warplanes as well as regime’s warplanes, which carried out tens of raids since the fighting started in the city today.

While the eastern banks of the Euphrates River opposite Deir Ezzor city, is witnessing clashes in three areas there, in which violent clashes are taking place in Hatla village, the vicinity of Al-Husseiniyah village, and in Al-Salihiyah village, between the regime forces backed by armed militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against the members of the “Islamic State” organization, in which the regime forces managed to take the control of most of Al-Husseiniyah village, they also advanced in Al-Salihiyah village, and the clashes are accompanied by shelling by the regime forces and bombing by warplanes, on the clash areas, and information about confirmed casualties in the ranks of the both parties.

And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published yesterday, that the regime forces managed to advance in Husseiniya village and controlled large areas of it, amid continuous violent clashes in an attempt by the regime forces control the village completely, and tighten their grip even more on the eastern banks of Euphrates opposite to Deir Ezzor city, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 14th of October 2017, that the regime forces are resuming their advancement imposing the siege on ISIS which is still located in Deir Ezzor city, and controls a number of neighborhoods there, while the SOHR monitored that the regime forces managed to achieve new advancement and block the corridor between the eastern and the north-western countryside of Deir Ezzor at the eastern banks of the river, which goes through the controlled areas of the regime forces and the controlled areas of the Syria Democratic Forces, and the violent clashes are accompanied by intensive shelling by the regime forces on the clash areas and ISIS positions, and information about confirmed casualties in its ranks.
